The water quality of the underground water of Jeju island has shown to be relatively good.

According to the Jeju Health and Environment Research Institute, during the first quarter of this year, water quality tests were conducted on 12 major rivers in the region. Six items, including pH and biochemical oxygen demand, received top ratings of excellent or good.

However, three items, including total nitrogen and coliforms, were rated as average grade 3 falling from grade 1.

In particular, in the case of (연외천) Yeonwacheon in (서홍동) Seohong-dong, Seogwipo City, a relatively high rating of coliforms were found at 5,300 colonies per 100 ml, which was analyzed to be due to the inflow of pollutants around the river and drought that caused a reduction in water levels.




제주 하천수질 비교적 양호…일부 대장균군 증가

제주지역의 하천 수질이 비교적 양호한 것으로 나타났습니다.

올 1분기에 도내 12개 유수하천을 대상으로 수질검사를 실시한 결과
수소이온농도와 생물화학적산소요구량 등
6개 항목에서
매우 좋음 또는 좋음의 1등급으로 나왔습니다.

총인과 총대장균군,
분원성대장균군 등 3개 항목에서는
1등급에서 보통의 3등급으로 조사됐습니다.

다만 서귀포시 서홍동의 연외천의 경우
총대장균군이
100ml당 5천300군으로 비교적 많았고
이는 하천 주변의 오염물질 유입과
가뭄에 따른 수량감소 때문으로 분석됐습니다.
