Jeju City has caught 35 cases of unreported accommodations through joint crackdowns with police forces, tourism associations, and related agencies until last month.

Unregistered accommodations that were illegally operating through online platforms were identified. Of 35 cases, 19 were reported to the authorities and 16 were subject to administrative guidance.

Jeju City plans to carry out a concentrated joint crackdown on unregistered accommodations for two months until July 14 in preparation for the summer peak season.

Owners who illegally operate accommodations may face up to two years of imprisonment or a fine of up to 20 million won.

제주시가 올들어 지난달까지
자치경찰단과 관광협회와 미신고 불법 숙박업소에 대한
합동단속 결과 35건을 적발했습니다.

적발된 업소들은
숙박업소로 신고하지 않고 온라인 공유숙박 플랫폼을 이용해
불법 영업한 경우로
19건은 고발조치됐고 16건에 대해서는 행정지도가 이뤄졌습니다.

제주시는 여름철 성수기에 대비해 7월 14일까지 두 달 동안
미신고 숙박업에 대한 집중 합동단속을 실시할 계획입니다.

한편 미신고 숙박업은
2년 이하의 징역 또는 2천만 원 이하의 벌금에 처해집니다.
