Last month, the consumer price inflation rate in the Jeju slowed down to the 2% range for the first time in over two years.

According to the Jeju branch of the Korea National Statistical Office, the consumer price inflation rate in the region was recorded at 2.5% last month, marking the lowest level in 23 months since February 2021.

Moreover, the drop in the consumer price inflation rate to the 2% range occurred for the first time in 20 months.

Looking at specific items, prices for petroleum products including diesel and gasoline, as well as pork and airfares, have decreased.

On the other hand, public utility fees such as electricity, city gas, and sewage charges continued to rise steadily.


5월 소비자물가 상승률 2.5%…23개월 만에 최저

지난달 제주지역 소비자물가 상승률이
2년여 만에 2%대로 둔화됐습니다.

통계청 제주사무소에 따르면
지난달 도내 소비자물가 상승률은 2.5%로
지난 2021년 2월 이후 23개월 만에 최저치를
기록했습니다.

또 소비자물가 상승률이 2%대로 떨어진 것은
20개월만입니다.

품목별로 보면
경유와 휘발유 등 기름값을 비롯해
돼지고기와 항공료 등이 하락했습니다.

반면 전기와 도시가스, 하수도료 등 공공요금은
고공행진을 이어갔습니다.
