Drugs Detected in Jeju Wastewaters


Illegal drug substances such as Philopon have been detected for three consecutive years at the Jeju wastewater treatment plant.

The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety has conducted an investigation by collecting samples from the treatment plant since 2020, and these are the results obtained over the course of three years.

Among the seven types of illegal drugs, including Philopon, cocaine, and ecstasy, identified by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, the drugs detected in Jeju consist of two types: methamphetamine, which is commonly known as Philopon, and amphetamine.

Based on the data from 2020, it is estimated that an average of 9.79mg of Philopon was used per day per 1,000 individuals.
Although the use of Philopon has been decreasing annually, it has consistently been detected.

Amphetamine, which is a psychotropic pharmaceutical, has been analyzed to have an average daily usage of 8.34mg per 1,000 individuals over the past three years.
It is the third-highest detected amount following North (충청) Chungcheong Province and (광주) Gwangju, and it is approximately twice the national average.


The consistent detection of drugs at the wastewater treatment plant indicates the presence and prevalence of drug use within the community.

The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety plans to provide the results of this investigation to domestic law enforcement and regulatory agencies responsible for drug control.

Since Philopon has been detected in 34 wastewater treatment plants nationwide for three years and is being detected in significant amounts, it seems necessary to closely monitor the situation and narcotics use.

Recently, as the number of drug-related crimes continues to increase in Jeju, illegal drugs are also being consistently detected in domestic wastewater, which has become a serious social issue.

필로폰으로 알고 있는 메트 암페타민과 암페타민 두 종류입니다.



필로폰은
지난 2020년 기준
1천 명 당 하루 평균 9.79mg이 사용한 것으로 추정됐습니다.

필로폰은
해마다 줄어드는 추세이지만
꾸준히 검출된 것으로 확인됐습니다.

항정신성의약품인 암페타민은
지난 3년 동안
1천 명 당 하루 평균 8.34mg이 사용한 것으로 분석됐는데,

전국에서 충북과 광주에 이어 세 번째로 가장 많은 검출량입니다.

전국 평균 검출량과 비교해도 두 배 가량 높습니다.


제주에서도 마약류가
생활속에 깊숙히 파고 들고 있다는 반증인 셈입니다.

식약처는
이번 조사 결과를
마약류 국내 수사.단속 관계기관에 제공할 예정입니다.

3년 내내 필로폰이 34개 하수처리장에서 검출되고 있고
일정 정도의 양이 검출되고 있기 때문에 마약에 대한 상황은 계속 지켜보면서 사용량을 모니터링하면서 주의 깊게 봐야 하지 않을까...
