Education Minister Lee Joo-ho stated that while IB education is necessary for cultivating talents prepared for future society, it is not easy to immediately incorporate it into college admissions.

Minister Lee made remarks during his visit to (표선) Pyoseon High School in Seogwipo City, where IB education is being conducted.

He made class observation and held a meeting with undergraduate students and teachers from
Pyoseon High School.

In response to their request to ensure that students attending IB schools are not disadvantaged in college admissions, the minister acknowledged the importance of such education but expressed the difficulty of immediate implementation in the highly competitive college admissions process.

Furthermore, Minister Lee added that there is a need for the widespread adoption of IB education nationwide, considering Jeju's pioneering efforts in its implementation.



"IB 필요한 교육이지만 당장 대입 반영 쉽지 않아"

이 장관은 지난 22일 IB 교육이 이뤄지고 있는
서귀포시 표선고등학교를 방문한 자리에서 이 같이 말했습니다.

수업을 참관하고
학부와 표선고 교사들과의 간담회에서
IB학교에 다니는 학생들이
대입에서 불이익을 받지 않도록 해달라는 요청에
이 장관은
필요한 교육이라고 생각하지만
갈등이 첨예한 입시에
당장 반영하기는 쉽지 않다고 밝혔습니다.

그러면서 제주에서 선도적으로 도입한 IB교육이
전국적으로 확산될 필요가 있다고 덧붙였습니다.
