A case involving Professor A from Jeju University has been referred to the prosecutor's office, as A is suspected of falsely registering the names of researchers to embezzle funds, including salaries.

According to the Jeju Provincial Police Agency, A has been sent to the prosecutor's office on charges of fraud and violation of subsidy management laws.

As per the police investigation, the professor allegedly falsified the names of five researchers while conducting a job support project for marine structure management. He is accused of embezzling 40 million won in subsidies from 2018 until the end of last year.

During the investigation process, the researchers who assisted in the false registration of the assistant's name have also been referred to the prosecutor's office and may face charges of aiding and abetting fraud.




연구원 허위 등록해 보조금 빼돌린 대학 교수 '송치'


연구원 이름을 허위로 올려 인건비 등을
빼돌린 혐의를 받고 있는 제주대 교수 A씨에 대한
사건이 검찰로 넘겨졌습니다.

제주경찰청은 사기와 보조금 관리법 위반 혐의로
A 교수를 검찰에 송치했습니다.

경찰에 따르면
A 교수는 해양구조물 관리 취업 지원 사업을 하면서
연구원 5명의 이름을 허위로 등록한 뒤
지난 2018년부터 지난해 말까지 보조금 4천만 원을
빼돌림 혐의를 받고 있습니다.

수사 과정에서 연구원 허위 등록을 도운 연구원에 대해서도
사기 방조 등의 혐의를 적용해 검찰로 넘겼습니다.
