Starting from the 1st of next month, Jeju Island will enhance the enforcement of origin labeling for seafood in general restaurants.

In particular, the range of targeted items has been expanded from the existing 15 to 20, including scallops, sea snails, mackerel, and abalone.

If false labeling of origin is discovered, the offender may face imprisonment for up to 7 years or a fine of up to 100 million won. Failure to provide origin labeling or violation of labeling methods may result in fines of up to 10 million won.

제주도가
다음달 1일부터 일반음식점을 대상으로
수산물 원산지 표시 단속을 강화합니다.

특히 단속 대상 품목은
기존 15개 품목에서
가리비와 우렁쉥이, 방어, 전복 등이 추가돼
20개로 확대됐습니다.

원산지 거짓 표시 행위가 적발되면
7년 이하의 징역이나
1억 원 이하의 벌금이 부과되며
원산지 표시를 하지 않거나
표시방법을 위반하면
1천만 원 이하의 과태료가 부과됩니다.
