Unreported Births for Investigation

The province has confirmed the existence of 19 cases where children were born in hospitals but not reported at birth.

Following the first round of investigation, conducted through face-to-face interviews and home visits from June 28th to July 7th, the results have been forwarded to the Ministry of Health and Welfare.

Out of the 19 cases, 12 involve children who were reported after the mandatory reporting period had passed and are currently under the care of their guardians or facilities.

However, the remaining 7 cases have yet to be confirmed regarding the children's survival and safety, prompting a request for a police investigation.

제주도는 1차 조사를 마무리 하고
결과를 보건복지부로 전달했습니다.

제주도는
지난달 28일부터 7월 7일까지
19명에 대한 보호자 대면 조사와 가정 방문 등을 통해 아동들의 생사와 안전, 양육 여부 등을 확인했다고 밝혔습니다.

이 가운데
12명은 대부분 의무 기간이 지난 후에 출생 신고돼
현재 보호자 또는 시설 등에서 양육되고 있는 것으로 파악됐습니다.

나머지 7명은
생사 여부 또는 안전이 확인되지 않아
경찰에 수사 의뢰한 것으로 전해졌습니다.
