A safety inspection was conducted on the underground passage at Jeju Airport, which opening was delayed due to a flooding accident in (청주 오송) Cheongju Osong underground passage in (충북) Chungbuk Province.

Governor (오영훈) Oh Young-hoon and relevant agencies, including Jeju City, visited the site to carefully examine the drainage facilities and safety equipment within the underground passage.

According to Jeju City, the design of the underground passage incorporates a sloped structure that allows water to flow through efficiently, capable of handling heavy rainfall of up to 100mm per hour, and thus that the possibility of flooding accidents is deemed low.

In response to the findings, Governor Oh has instructed the installation of surveillance cameras within the underground passage to mitigate the impact of heavy rains.

Jeju City plans to temporarily open the underground passage early next month to address any necessary improvements, aiming for an official opening by the end of next month or early September.

최근 충북 청주 오송 지하차도 침수사고 영향으로
개통이 연기된 제주공항 지하차도에 대한 안전점검이 진행됐습니다.

오영훈 제주도지사와 제주시 등 관계기관은
오늘 오전 현장을 찾아
지하차도 내 배수 시설과 안전 시설물 등을 점검했습니다.

이 자리에서 제주시는
제주공항 지하차도의 경우 물이 흐르도록 경사져 있고
시간당 최대 100mm까지 빗물을 처리할 수 있도록 설계돼
침수사고 가능성은 적다고 설명했습니다.

이에 대해 오영훈 지사는
지하차도 내를 실시간 확인할 수 있는 CCTV와
폭우에 따른
자동 차단기 설치 등을 주문했습니다.

제주시는 다음달 초
지하차도를 임시 개통해 보완점을 개선하고
다음달 말이나
9월 초 정식 개통할 계획입니다.
