After a 7-year hiatus, the Jeju Outer Port Phase 2 development project, aimed at resolving berth shortages, has resumed.

The island plans to invest 72.5 billion won by 2027 to reclaim over 40,000 square meters of sea area and construct mooring facilities and has announced the draft of the environmental impact assessment for the Jeju Outer Port Phase 2 development project.

On the 25th, the Jeju City (건입동) Geonip-dong and (화북동) Hwabuk-dong Community Centers will hold explanatory meetings with residents.

According to Jeju Island authorities, the project is expected to alleviate berth shortages and facilitate efficient cargo handling.

The second phase of the Jeju Outer Port project was initially launched in 2016 but faced delays due to a decrease in cruise ship arrivals.

4만여 제곱미터 규모의 해상을 매립하고
계류시설 등을 조성하는 내용의
제주외항 2단계 개발사업 환경영향평가 초안을 공고했습니다.


이어 오는 25일 제주시 건입동과 화북동 주민센터에서
주민들을 상대로 설명회를 개최할 예정입니다.

제주도는
이 사업을 통해 선석 부족 문제를 해소하고
보다 원활한 화물 처리가 가능할 것으로 기대하고 있습니다.

당초 제주외항 2단계 사업은 2016년부터 추진됐지만
크루즈 입항이 감소하면서 진척을 보이지 못했습니다.
