A woman in her 40s, identified as A, was arrested for allegedly arranging employment for around 50 Vietnamese crew members with expired visas or overstayed residency in Jeju.

The Jeju Maritime Police Station apprehended A, a Vietnamese migrant woman, and sent her to the prosecution on charges of introducing illegal foreign workers to fishing vessels in different regions from June to September last year. She is accused of charging a fee of 200,000 won per person.

The coast guard reported that A was exploiting crew employment opportunities, facilitating the illegal employment of foreign nationals.

베트남 선원 50여 명의 취업을 알선한 혐의로
베트남 이주여성인 40대 A씨를
검거하고 검찰에 송치했습니다.

해경에 따르면 A씨는
선원 고용난을 노려
지난해 6월부터 9월까지 다른 지역 어선에
불법 체류외국인을 소개하고
1명당 20만 원 상당의 수수료를
챙긴 혐의를 받고 있습니다.
