With the COVID-19 cases continuing to surge in the Jeju region, there is now an additional concern with an ongoing influenza outbreak.

According to the Province, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Jeju region last week exceeded 5,700, marking a significant 33% increase compared to the previous week.

In the third week of last month, there were over 2,600 cases, indicating a significant increase of over a thousand cases in just a month.

What's especially concerning is the high infection rate among teenagers in the Jeju region, which is currently at 21.8%.

Suspected influenza cases are rising, with 37.9 cases per 1,000 outpatients in the second week of July, surpassing the epidemic criteria of 4.9 cases.

One reason for this effect is suspected to be insufficient ventilation caused by increased use of air conditioning. People are urged to wear masks if showing any symptoms like coughing to help prevent the spread of the disease.

제주지역 코로나19 확진자가 계속해서 늘고 있는 가운데 인플루엔자도 동시에 유행하고 있습니다.

제주특별자치도에 따르면
지난주 제주지역 확진자는 5천 700여명으로
전주에 비해 33% 증가했습니다.

한달 전인 지난달 셋째주 2천 600여명에 비해
갑절 이상 늘어나는 등 매주 큰 증가폭을 보이고 있습니다.

특히 10대층의 확진비율이 21.8%로 가장 높게 나타나고 있습니다.

이와 더불어 인플루엔자 의심환자도 많아지고 있는 가운데 7월 둘째주 외래환자 1천명 당 의심환자는 37.9명으로 유행기준인 4.9명을 훨씬 웃돌고 있습니다.
