Island of Golden Melodies


In a darkened performance hall, soft golden melodies resonate through the air.

Audience members at the venue are enchanted by the melodies and forget about the heat wave.

This is a performance by Samsan Elementary School's wind orchestra.

The 28th Jeju International Wind Ensemble Festival has begun in earnest.

Running until the 15th, performances will take place at various locations around the island, including the Jeju Culture and Art Center, the Jeju Arts Center, Seogwipo Arts Center, and Jeju Seaside Arts Center.

On the first day of the festival, a contest was held featuring youth wind orchestras made up of under 13s both domestic and international.

I practiced a lot during the vacation, and I hope I get good results here in Jeju.

Even during the vacation period, they've sweated and practiced hard in preparation for this contest.

I practiced diligently with my friends for three hours every day during the vacation. I'm quite nervous because I don't want to miss out on any awards.

The number of new members reached about 40, so we started practicing very early this year. Despite the hot summer weather during the vacation, we came out almost every day and continued practicing little by little.


Held alongside the contest, the Jeju International Wind Ensemble Festival is the largest in its history, with 79 teams from 14 countries and over 4,200 musicians.

In particular, on Aug. 9 at the Jeju Culture and Art Center, events like Spain Day will take place, offering daily performances by top musicians from around the world.

Additionally, the My Town Wind Ensemble Festival, which visits Jeju's landmarks and culturally overlooked areas, will take place throughout the performance period, filling Jeju's summer nights with golden melodies.



28회 국제관악제 개막..."금빛 선율 가득"


어둠이 내려앉은 공연장에
부드러운 금빛 선율이 울려 퍼집니다.

공연장을 찾은 관람객들은
관악 선율에 취해 더위도 잊어버립니다.

삼양초등학교 학생들로 구성된
삼양윈드 오케스트라의 공연입니다.

올해 28회째를 맞는
제주국제관악제가 시작됐습니다.
오는 15일까지 제주문예회관과 제주아트센터,
서귀포예술의전당, 제주해변공연장 등 곳곳에서 열립니다.

관악제 첫날에는 13살 이하
국내외 청소년 관악 밴드들이 참여하는
경연대회가 열렸습니다.

방학동안 많은 연습을 했고 이번에 제주에 와서 좋은 성적을 냈으면 좋겠습니다.


방학 기간이지만 이번 경연을 위해
구슬땀을 흘리며 호흡을 맞춰왔습니다.

방학 동안에 친구들과 3시간씩 열심히 연습했는데 상을 못탈까 봐 굉장히 떨려요.

신입 단원들이 40명 정도가 되어서 올해는 굉장히 일찍부터 연습을 시작했고 여름 방학 무더운 날씨에도 불구하고 거의 매일 나와서 조금씩이라도 연습을 계속했습니다.


관악경연대회와 함께 진행되는 제주국제관악제는
역대 최대 규모인 세계 14개국 79개 팀,
4천200여 명의 뮤지션이 참여합니다.

특히 오는 9일 제주문예회관에선
스페인의 날 행사가 열리는 등
매일 세계 유수의 뮤지션이 참여하는 공연이 펼쳐집니다.

이밖에도 제주의 명소와 문화 소외 지역을 찾아가는
우리동네관악제가
공연기간 내내 펼쳐지며
제주의 한 여름 밤을 금빛 선율로 채우게 됩니다.
