With the conditional approval of the Korean review for UNESCO World Documentary Heritage status for the Jeju 4.3 Incident records, the bereaved families have welcomed the decision.

The Jeju 4.3 Victims' Association conveyed their approval through a welcoming statement, highlighting the incident as a prominent exemplar of local residents' resilience against tragic state violence. They stressed the importance of international recognition through the UNESCO World Documentary Heritage status to acknowledge its historical significance.

They also expressed hope for the swift inclusion of the April 3rd Incident records, given the limited number of surviving victims, to ensure its legacy as a UNESCO World Documentary Heritage.

그러면서 현재 생존해 있는 4.3 희생자가 1백여 명에 불과하다며 4.3 기록물이 서둘러 유네스코 세계기록 유산에 등재되길 소망한다고 덧붙였습니다.
