In the second quarter of this year, the Jeju region experienced the most substantial drop in service sector production and retail sales compared to any other part of the nation.

Statistics Korea has reported that service industry production on Jeju Island witnessed a 1.7% decline compared to the corresponding from the previous last year, marking the largest reduction among the 17 cities and provinces nationwide.

Furthermore, retail sales experienced a notable plummet of 7.4%, particularly in duty-free shops, marking the largest drop nationwide.

This decline in both local retail sales and service sector production represents the first instance since the initial COVID-19 outbreak in the first quarter of 2021.

Statistics Korea attributes the downturn in service sector production and retail sales to a reduction in domestic tourists visiting Jeju, possibly influenced by a surge in overseas travel.

이와 함께
소매판매는 면세점을 중심으로 7.4% 감소하며
이 역시 전국에서 가장 큰 내림폭을 기록했습니다.

도내 소매판매와 서비스업 생산이 동반 감소한 건
코로나19 유행 시기인 2021년 1분기 이후 처음입니다.



통계청은 해외여행 증가로 제주를 찾는 내국인 관광객이 감소하면서
서비스업 생산과 소매판매가 줄어든 것으로
분석했습니다.
