Amid Japan's initiation of the substantial release of radioactive-contaminated water into the ocean waters, Jeju's education authorities have opted to bolster the scrutiny of seafood in school meals.

The Jeju Provincial Office of Education (POE) has increased the frequency of seafood inspections for school meals. This change involves transitioning from conducting checks every quarter to a monthly basis to enhance the assurance of meal safety.

They have also mandated the publication of radiation test results on the provincial education departments and school websites.

There are four registered seafood suppliers for school meals in the province.




도교육청, 학교급식 수산물 방사능 검사 강화

일본 후쿠시마 방사능 오염수 해양 방류가 본격 시작된 가운데
제주교육당국이 학교 급식 수산물 방사능 검사를 강화하기로 했습니다.

제주도교육청은 안전한 학교급식을 제공하기 위해
학교급식에서 사용되는 수산물 방사능 검사 횟수를
종전 분기에서 한달에 한번 실시하기로 했습니다.

또 방사능 검사 결과를 도교육청과 학교 홈페이지 공개를 의무화하고 가정통신문을 통해
수산물 원산지 표시 안내도 적극 제공할 방침입니다.

현재 도내 등록된 학교급식 수산물 공급업체는 4군데입니다.
