Jeju Province and the Education Department are teaming up to launch 'Community-Linked Childcare Centers' as a solution to elementary childcare challenges.

These centers will run in four classrooms each at Arach Elementary School in Jeju City and Donghong Elementary School in Seogwipo City.
The schools will operate them on weekdays and by local authorities on weekends.
Jeju Province will support staffing costs, while the Education Department will provide program funding.

Additionally, Jeju Province will introduce a salary scale system for workers at local child centers starting next month.

제주도와 도교육청의 협업으로
초등돌봄 문제 해결을 위한 가칭 '지역 연계형 돌봄센터'가
내년 3월부터 전국 최초로 시범 운영됩니다.

지역 연계형 돌봄센터는
제주시 아라초등학교와 서귀포시 동홍초등학교에서
각각 4개 교실이 운영되며
주중에는 학교가, 주말에는 지자체에서 운영하게 됩니다.

돌봄센터 운영에 따른 인건비 등을 제주도가 지원하고
교육청은 프로그램비 보조 등을 담당하게 됩니다.

한편 제주도는 지역아동센터 종사자들의 처우 개선 등을 위해
다음달부터 호봉제를 도입합니다.
