With Chuseok holiday nearing, multiple restaurants have been caught violating food origin labeling regulations.

The Jeju branch of the National Institute of Agricultural Quality Management conducted inspections from June to mid-August, resulting in the discovery of 6 restaurants violating food origin labeling regulations.

Among these, 5 restaurants, including 2 specialized in black pork falsely labeled foreign pork as locally sourced and have faced criminal charges. The remaining restaurants were fined.

The Jeju branch has observed a growing incidence of misleading food origin labeling, reporting 12 cases this year, marking an increase from the previous year.

In anticipation of Chuseok, inspections will be intensified.

추석을 앞두고
식품 원산지 표시를 위반한 음식점들이
잇따라 적발됐습니다.

국립농산물품질관리원 제주지원은
지난 6월부터 8월 중순까지 단속을 벌여
원산지 표시 위반 음식점 6곳을 적발했습니다.

이 가운데
외국산 돼지고기를 제주산으로 표기한 흑돼지 전문점 2곳을 포함한
5곳은 형사 입건됐고 나머지 한 곳에는 과태료가 부과됐습니다.

제주지원은 올해 원산지 허위 표시 위반은 12건으로
지난해보다 증가 추세를 보이고 있다며
추석을 대비해 단속을 강화하겠다고 밝혔습니다.
