Amidst the declining seafood consumption due to the release of contaminated water from the Fukushima nuclear power plant in Japan, Jeju's seafood exports are gaining momentum.

The Jeju Fisheries Export Association has exported 26 tons of Jeju mackerel to Malaysia from Hanim Port. This marks the first time that Jeju mackerel has been exported to Malaysia, and it is anticipated to contribute to alleviating the spread of stagnation in seafood consumption following the Fukushima contamination issue.

The association plans to diversify its export destinations by expanding the range of exported seafood products, including mackerel, hairtail, and flatfish, and exploring markets in countries such as Japan, Vietnam, and China.

제주산 고등어 26톤을 말레이시아로 수출했습니다.

제주 고등어가 말레이시아로 수출된 것은 이번이 처음으로
후쿠시마 오염수 방류 이후 침체된 수산물 소비 확산에
도움이 될 것으로 기대되고 있습니다.

협회는 고등어와 전갱이, 방어 등
수산물 수출 품목을 확대하는 동시에
일본과 베트남, 중국 등으로
수출국 또한 다변화할 방침입니다.
