Jeju Public Health and Environment Research Institute warns of a steady increase in antibiotic-resistant bacteria known as CRE infections, particularly among the elderly population in the region.

CRE infections had the second-highest reported cases among legal communicable diseases, excluding COVID-19. They show a steady five-year Increase

Especially notable is the high proportion among those aged 70 and above, accounting for 71% of all infections in the past three years.

This particular strain, when it infects the gut and carries enzymes capable of directly breaking down antibiotics, presents significant challenges in terms of treatment.

카바페넴 내성 장내 세균속균종 감염증은
지난해 기준으로
코로나19를 제외한 법정감염병 가운데
두 번째로 신고가 많았으며
최근 5년간 지속적으로 증가 추세를 보이고 있습니다.

특히 70살 이상의 비율이 높게 나타나
최근 3년간 전체 감염자의 71%에 이르고 있습니다.

이 균종은
항생제를 직접 분해할 수 있는 효소를 지난 장내 세균으로
감염될 경우
각종 치료에 어려움을 겪을 수 있습니다.
