The Seogwipo central roundabout has emerged as the most accident-prone area for traffic accidents in Jeju.

According to the Korea Transportation Safety Authority, the Seogwipo central roundabout has witnessed over 60 traffic accidents in the past three years, topping the list of 60 high-accident zones in Jeju.

Main causes include 19 cases of signal violations, 15 cases of reckless driving, and 11 cases of tailgating.

The traffic signal system at the roundabout, coupled with its intersection connecting seven roads, contributes to its elevated accident risk.

한국교통안전공단에 따르면 서귀포 중앙로터리 일대는 최근 3년 사이 60여 건의 교통사고가
발생해 교통다발지역 60곳 가운데
가장 많았습니다.

신호 위반이 19건으로 가장 많았고 안전 운전 불이행 15건, 안전거리 미확보 11건 등이
사고 원인으로 꼽혔습니다.

중앙로터리는 7개 방면 도로와
연결된 교차로인데다 교통 신호체계가 복잡해 다른 교차로보다 사고위험이 높은 것으로 알려졌습니다.
