The Jeju Fire Festival will be held without any fire in the future.

Jeju Mayor (강병삼) Kang Byung-sam announced during a briefing at the Jeju City Hall press room that, reflecting the recommendations presented by the Deliberative Roundtable Operating Committee, Jeju will not have any further fire ignitions during the next Jeju Fire Festival.

He also stated plans to transform it into a festival that aligns with ecological values and expands citizen participation.

He also added that next year, the Fire Festival will not be held, and they will focus on developing new content to relaunch it as a sustainable event, designating the year for festival preparation.



제주들불축제, '오름 불놓기' 폐지…내년 행사 취소


제주들불축제가 앞으로 불 없는 행사로 치뤄집니다.

강병삼 제주시장은 제주시청 기자실에서 브리핑을 열고 숙의형 원탁회의 운영위원회에서 제시한 권고안을 반영해다음 축제부터 오름 불놓기를 진행하지 않는다고 밝혔습니다.

그러면서 운영위가 권고한 생태적 가치에 부합하고 시민 참여 확대를 위한 축제로 만들어 나가갈 계획이라고 말했습니다.

이와함께 내년에는 들불축제를 개최하지 않고 새로운 콘텐츠 개발에 집중해 지속가능한 축제로 재도약할 수 있도록 축제 준비의 해로 정했다고 덧붙였습니다.
