Jeju is initiating the purchase of private properties within Jeju’s Gotjawal forests, aiming for systematic conservation and management of the environment.

The plan involves an investment of 20 billion won over the next five years, with an immediate allocation of 2 billion won this year to acquire 95,000 square meters of private land.

Property owners interested in selling can apply until the 31st by completing and submitting an application form.

On a related note, the protected Gotjawal area on the island encompasses 33.7 square kilometers, with private properties making up 65% of this land.



제주도, 곶자왈 사유지 매입 추진…5년 간 2백억 투입


제주도가 환경 자산인 곶자왈의 체계적인 보전과 관리를 위해 곶자왈 내 사유지 매입에 나섭니다.
제주도는 이를 위해 앞으로 5년 동안 모두 2백억원을 투입할 계획으로 올해는 20억 원을 들여 사유지 9만5천 제곱미터를 매입할 계획입니다.
매도 신청은 오는 31일까지 신청서를 작성해 제출하면 됩니다.

한편, 도내 곶자왈 보호지역은 33.7 제곱킬로미터로 이 가운데 65%가 사유지입니다.
