In the wake of recent incidents of detected illegal entry attempts, Jeju is intensifying its clampdown on unauthorized immigration and departures.

The Jeju Regional Coast Guard is collaborating with the Immigration Office, the National Intelligence Service, and the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries to undertake rigorous inspections, utilizing X-ray scanning equipment to scrutinize cargo vehicles traversing the docks.

In addition, persistent maritime surveillance will be carried out in addition to deploying patrol vessels to areas considered high-risk for illegal entry, including certain ports and densely populated ship facilities.

Over 40 foreigners have been apprehended for unauthorized departures since 2018.



해경, 밀입국·무단이탈 단속 강화…'엑스레이 검색'


최근 밀입국 시도 검거 사건을 계기로 제주에서도 밀입국과 무단이탈 관련 단속이 강화됩니다.

제주지방해양경찰청은 출입국 외국인청과 국정원, 해양수산관리단과 합동으로 엑스레이 투시 장비를 이용해 부두를 오가는 화물 차량에 대한 검문 검색을 벌이고 있습니다.

밀입국 가능성이 높은 항포구와 선박 밀집 시설을 비롯해 경비함정을 이용한 해상 순찰도 수시로 진행하고 있습니다.

한편 지난 2018년 부터 올해까지 적발된 무단이탈 외국인은 40명을 넘고 있습니다.
