Analyses indicate signs of recovery in Jeju’s economy as the downturn in tourist arrivals stabilizes.

According to the Jeju Branch of the Bank of Korea, the island welcomed approximately 1.11 million visitors last month, marking an increase of 54,000 compared to last year.

The sustained uptrend in foreign tourist numbers is attributed to factors such as the Chinese government's relaxation of restrictions on group travel and the ripple effect of China's National holidays.

The Jeju branch of the Bank of Korea stated that the economy is exhibiting early signs of recovery, thanks in part to the slowing decline in tourist numbers, while consumer spending and construction continue to underperform.



관광객 감소세 완화…제주 경제 '회복 조짐'


최근 관광객 감소세가 완화되면서 제주경제가 회복될 조짐을 보이고 있는 것으 분석됐습니다.

한국은행 제주본부에 따르면 지난달 제주를 방문한 관광객은 111만 3천명으로 지난해 같은 달과 비교해 5만 4천명 증가했습니다.

또 중국 정부의 단체여행 허용과 중국 국경절 연휴 등의 영향으로 외국인 관광객은 증가세를 이어가고 있는 것으로 나타났습니다.

이와 관련해 한국은행 제주본부는 소비와 건설 등의 부진이 지속되고 있지만 관광객 감소폭이 축소되면서 제주경제가 회복 기미를 보이고 있다고 설명했습니다.
