The largest-ever Sumang(수망) solar power plant project in the region has finally been approved.

Jeju Special Self-Governing Province recently announced the approval of the development project to construct the Sumang solar power facility.

This project, involving an investment of 139.1 billion won, aims to establish facilities, including solar panels and substations with a capacity of 100MW(Megawatts) on a site of approximately 2.337 million square meters by July 2024.

Some people are concerned about the project's financial feasibility, pointing to regular output limits from overproduction and possible environmental harm.

제주지역 역대 최대규모의 수망 태양광 발전시설 조성사업이 결국 승인됐습니다.

제주특별자치도는 최근 수망태양광 발전시설 조성사업에 따른 개발사업을 승인고시했습니다.
이 사업은 사업비 1천 391억원을 투입해 오는 2024년 7월까지 부지 233만 7천여 제곱미터에서 100MW 규모의 태양광 패널과 변전소 등의 시설을 갖추는 내용을 담고 있습니다.
이에 대해 일부에서는 환경훼손과 함께 과잉생산으로 인한 출력제한이 빈번한 가운데경제적 타당성에도 의문을 제기하고 있습니다.
