Special attention is required for the management of crops as the autumn drought begins to set in.

According to the Provincial Agricultural Technology Center, the average rainfall has been 30mm since the latter part of last month, which is about one-quarter of the normal level of 121mm, and this phenomenon is particularly noticeable in the Seogwipo(서귀포) and Gosan(고산) areas.

According to the Korea Meteorological Administration's medium-term forecast, no rain is expected until the beginning of November, increasing the likelihood of the drought expanding throughout the entire region of Jeju.

In response, it's recommended to utilize early mornings and evenings when water evaporation is minimal. Specifically for field-grown tangerines, it's advised to prioritize watering trees that have a lot of fruit or shallow root depth.

이달 들어 가을 가뭄 현상이 나타나기 시작하면서
농작물 관리에 각별한 주의가 요구되고 있습니다.

지난달 하순부터 평균 강수량은 30mm로
평년의 121mm에 비해
4분의 1 수준에 머물고 있고
이같은 현상은 서귀포지역과 고산지역에 두드러지고 있습니다.

기상청 중기예보에도
11월초까지 비 예보가 없어
제주 전 지역으로 가뭄이 확대될 가능성이 커지고 있습니다.

이에따라 농작물에 물을 줄 때는
수분 증발이 적은 저녁과 아침 시간을 활용하고
노지감귤의 경우
착과량이 많거나 토심이 얕은 나무 위주로
관수해 줄 것을 당부하고 있습니다.
