60% or 6 out of 10 are repeat offenders of the drug offenders arrested in Jeju, the highest rate in the country.

Assembly member Yong Hye-in(용혜인) of the Basic Income Party has analyzed the drug offender arrest data from the National Police Agency with findings indicating that in the Jeju region alone, there have been 445 drug-related arrests from 2018 through August of this year.

Notably, 60% or 267 of these are repeated criminals. This recidivism rate, along with Busan and Ulsan, is the highest in the country, and 10 percentage points higher than the national average of 50%.

Moreover, in the past five years in Jeju, 26% or 114 of the arrested drug offenders were in their 20s, and the analysis also included 10 teenagers.

이같은 재범 이상 비율 (This recidivism rate) 은
부산, 울산과 함께
전국에서 가장 높은 것으로
전국평균 50%에 비해 10% 포인트 많았습니다.

한편 최근 5년간 제주에서 검거된 마약사범 가운데
20대가 114명으로 26%에 이르렀고
10대도 10명이 포함된 것으로 분석됐습니다.
