Broccoli Black Spot Disease Warning


This is a broccoli field in (애월읍) Aewol-eup, Jeju City.

The lush broccoli is being harvested.

Although black spot disease has been spreading in the Aewol area, this farm has not been affected.

If you plant too densely out of greed, diseases can spread quickly. But if plants are spaced properly, there should be no major damage.

Black spot disease, a type of fungal infection, mainly occurs in overly moist and densely planted fields.


Initially, black spot disease causes dry spots on leaves. As the disease spreads, black spots appear on flower buds, making them unsaleable.


Studies show that black spot disease has affected 5% of the total area in the (애월) Aewol, (어음) Eoum, (봉성) Bongseong, and (곽지) Gwakji regions.

Compared to the average annual damage of 1.7%, this is noticeably higher.


The Jeju Agricultural Research and Extension Services believes that the disease has spread due to the warm, autumn-like weather this winter, which has been followed by increased humidity after rainfall.

If wet weather and humidity last for more than 12 hours, the disease spreads from leaves to flower buds. Farmers may need to control it when the flower buds are the size of a coin.

To avoid the spread of black spot disease, the Jeju Agricultural Research and Extension Services recommends that farmers use the appropriate fungicides to target the disease in its early stages. This is especially important when symptoms are observed on the leaves or during periods of continuous rain.



브로콜리 '검은무늬병' 발생 주의


제주시 애월읍의 브로콜리 밭입니다.

푸릇하게 자란 브로콜리를 수확합니다.

최근 애월읍 일대에서 검은무늬병이확산하고 있지만
다행히 이 농가는
감염피해를 입지 않았습니다.

욕심에 밀식 재배를 하면 병반이 빨리 오기 쉬운데 정석적인 넓이로만 심는다면 큰 피해는 없을 것 같습니다.

검은무늬병은 곰팡이병의 일종으로
과습하고 밀식된 포장에서 주로 발생합니다.

검은무늬병에 감염되면
발병 초기엔 잎에 반점이 생기면서 마르기 시작하고
병이 확산하면
꽃봉오리에 검은점이 생기면서 판매할 수 없게 됩니다.

예찰결과
검은무늬병은 애월과 어음, 봉성, 곽지 지역에서
전체 면적의 5%가
피해를 입은 것으로 조사됐습니다.

평균적으로 한해 1.7%의 피해수준을 보이는 것과 비교하면
높은 수준입니다.

농업기술원은
올겨울, 가을같이 포근한 날씨가 이어지고
비가 오고 난 뒤 습해지면서
병이 확산한 것으로 추정하고 있습니다.

잎에서 발병이 됐다가 그게 비날씨가 계속되고 습한 시간이 12시간 이상 지속되면 화뢰(꽃봉오리)에 전염이 됩니다. 화뢰가 동전크기 정도 어린 시기에 농가들이 방제를 해야하지 않을까…

농업기술원은
검은무늬병 확산 방지를 위해
잎에 병증이 확인되거나 비날씨가 계속될 경우
적용 살균제를 이용해
발생 초기에 집중 방제해야 한다고 당부했습니다.
