The Province is diversifying its efforts this year in animal quarantine, hygiene, and welfare policies.

Key initiatives include maintaining the region's unique status as the only area in the country free of serious livestock infectious diseases and preparing for certification as a Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD) vaccination-free zone by the World Organisation for Animal Health by 2025.

Additionally, there are plans to actively develop infrastructure related to pets, including constructing a second animal protection center, burial facilities, and play areas. The province will also continue its year-round neutering project for outdoor-bred dogs and stray cats.

In addition, there will be ongoing surveillance to prevent the introduction of livestock diseases, continued quarantine efforts at ports and airports, and consistent safety inspections of livestock products produced in Jeju.
