Last year, the number of employed people in the Jeju region decreased for the first time in three years.

According to the Jeju Office of the Honam Regional Statistics Office, the number of employed people in Jeju Province last year was 401,000, a decrease of 1,000 compared to the previous year.

This decrease in the number of employed people in the province is the first since April 2020, when 4,000 jobs were lost due to the start of COVID-19.

The decrease in employment last year is interpreted as a result of the base effect of employment improvement in 2022 and a decrease in tourists.

In addition, the number of employed people last month decreased by 8,000, showing a continuous decline for three months.

지난해 제주지역 취업자가 3년 만에 감소한 것으로 나타났습니다.

호남지방통계청 제주사무소에 따르면
지난해 제주도내 취업자는 40만 1천명으로
전년과 비교해 1천명 줄었습니다.

도내 취업자수가 감소한 건
코로나19가 시작된 지난 2020년 4천명이 줄어든 이후 3년 만입니다.

2022년 고용 개선의 기저효과와
지난해 관광객 감소가 맞물리면서
취업자수가 감소한 것으로 풀이되고 있습니다.

이와 함께 지난달 취업자는 8천명 줄어들며
3개월 연속 감소세를 보였습니다.
