Jeju experienced its second-hottest year on record due to factors including global warming.

The annual average temperature in 2023 was 17.1°C, slightly lower than 2021's 17.2°C, making it the second-warmest year.

September saw record highs, with an average temperature of 25.4°C, and temperatures stayed above average for over 50 days from late July to early September.

The Korea Meteorological Administration attributes this heat to active atmospheric circulation caused by summer typhoons, leading to warm southeasterly winds and strong sunlight.

지난해 제주는 역대 두번째로 더웠던 것으로 나타났습니다.

기상청에 따르면
지난해 제주지역 연평균 기온은 17.1도로
지난 2021년 17.2도에 이어 역대 2위를 기록했습니다.

특히 9월 평균 기온은 25.4도로 극값을 경신했고
7월 말부터
9월 초까지 50여 일 가운데
평년보다 기온이 낮았던 날은 단 하루에 불과했습니다.

기상청은
지난 여름, 태풍에 의한 대류 현상이 활발히 이뤄지면서
따뜻한 남동풍이 유입되고
강한 햇볕의 영향으로
고온 현상이 나타났다고 분석했습니다.
