The South Sea Fisheries Management Division of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries will conduct special crackdowns on illegal fishing vessels ahead of the upcoming Chinese New Year, which is the largest traditional holiday in China, on the 10th of next month.

Jeju will strengthen cooperation with the Coast Guard and enhance the surveillance network for illegal fishing activities and in particular will inspect Chinese fishing vessels entering Jeju waters to check for modifications of fishing storage areas, hiding of catch, and violations of net regulations.

In the previous year, 19 illegal Chinese fishing vessels were detected and penalized while collecting up to 920 million won in security deposits.

中 춘절 앞두고 불법 조업 기승…단속 강화

불법 조업 어선에 대한 특별 단속을 벌입니다.

이에따라 해경과 불법 조업 경계망을 강화하고
우리 수역으로 들어오는 중국어선을 대상으로
어획물 창고 개조나 어획물 은닉,
그물 규정 위반 여부 등을 집중 점검합니다.

남해어업관리단은
지난해 불법조업 중국어선 19척을 적발하고
담보금 9억 2천여 만원을 징수했습니다.
