Last month, damage to winter crops due to the severe cold and heavy snowfall exceeded 12 times the area of Mara Island.

Jeju reported that as of the 1st of this month, the registered area of damage to winter vegetables caused by the cold wave that occurred from the 22nd to the 24th of last month amounted to 389 hectares.

Among the winter vegetables, radishes were the most affected with 376 hectares of damage, followed by potatoes with 3.6 hectares, broccoli with 1.9 hectares, and beets with 1.3 hectares.

Jeju plans to calculate the exact extent of the damage after conducting a precise investigation and then apply for disaster relief funds from the government.
