Crackdown on Driving in Emergency Lanes

During rush hour on Aejoro (애조로), a well-known traffic bottleneck, a motorcycle illegally switches directions and enters the emergency lane. However, this reckless maneuver did not go unnoticed, resulting in swift action by police.


Prioritizing public safety and prompt responses to urgent situations, emergency lanes are exclusively reserved for the use of emergency vehicles.

Despite diligent efforts by police to promote and enforce traffic laws, a considerable number of private vehicles continue to use emergency lanes.

Last year, a total of 72 vehicles were caught during on-site enforcement by police.


In August last year, two unmanned enforcement cameras were installed along a 450m stretch near (노형) Nohyeong Intersection on Aejoro Road.


As per the Road Traffic Act, driving in the emergency lane in this section will henceforth result in a fine. The fine amount is set at 70,000 won for sedans and 80,000 won for vans.

The police intend to start issuing fines as of May 20th, following a 3-month grace period.

Drivers should use extra caution, especially considering that even a single infraction can result in a fine.

애조로 갓길 얌체 운전 단속…최고 8만 원


출퇴근시간대 차량이 몰리면서 상습 정체구간인 애조로.

차가 막히기 시작하자
오토바이 한 대가
방향을 바꿔 갓길로 진입하고
이내 자치경찰 단속에 적발됩니다.

갓길은
보행자의 안전을 확보하고
비상 상황에 사용할 수 있도록 만든 구역으로
긴급 차량만 주행할 수 있지만 이를 어겼기 때문입니다.

자치경찰이
홍보와 단속에 나서면서
조금씩 나아지고 있지만
갓길로 주행하는 차량은 여전히 적지 않습니다.

지난해 자치경찰이 직접 현장 단속을 벌인 결과
모두 72대를 적발했습니다.

그리고 지난해 8월에는
애조로 노형교차로 부근
약 450m 구간에 2대의 무인단속장비를 설치했습니다.


앞으로는 해당 구간에서 갓길로 주행하다 단속될 경우
도로교통법에 따라
승용차는 7만 원,
승합차는 8만 원의 과태료가 부과됩니다.

경찰은 3개월간의 홍보와 계도기간을 거쳐
오는 5월 20일부터
본격적으로 과태료를 부과할 계획입니다.

특히 단 1번의 촬영만으로도
과태료가 부과되는 만큼
운전자들은 각별히 유의해야 합니다.
