Illegal Parking Reporting System in Place
Electric bicycles are being abandoned in a variety of public spaces, like bike lanes and intersections, with no regard for others.
Because anyone can easily rent or return them anywhere through a mobile app, many users leave them scattered across the city, often treating them as disposable and creating an unsightly nuisance.

It was quite inconvenient. It was obstructing the way and I almost tripped over it.
In an effort to remedy this safety issue, the province has established an online portal enabling individuals to conveniently report abandoned electric scooters or bicycles.
Citizens can participate in a KakaoTalk open chat room and post photos of the abandoned devices and their surrounding addresses. This enables companies to promptly collect or relocate them to designated parking areas.
This measure addresses the shortcomings of the former system, which required government agencies to inform affected businesses of received reports. This process was inefficient, consuming significant time and administrative resources.

By reporting directly to the open chat room without notifying the authorities, we expect that the processing can be immediately checked and it will be convenient.
However, some argue that implementing a reporting system solely for electric devices has inherent limitations in effectively addressing the issue of unauthorized abandonment.

Ultimately, along with this new reporting system for abandoned electric scooters and bicycles, it’s essential that companies providing these devices improve awareness regarding this problematic trend.

장소를 막론하고 곳곳에 방치된 전동자전거.

도심 곳곳에 버려진 듯 방치돼 천덕꾸러기 취급을 받기 일쑤입니다.

이런 불편을 해소하기 위해 제주도가
방치된 전동 킥보드나 자전거를
신고할 수 있는 온라인 방을 만들어 운영에 들어갔습니다.
카카오톡 오픈채팅방에 시민들이 직접 참여해
방치된 기기 사진과
주변 주소 등을 올리면
업체들이 바로 수거나 지정된 주정차 구역으로 옮기도록 한겁니다.
그동안 접수 받은 신고 내용을
행정기관에서
관련 업체에 통보하다보니
처리 과정에 많은 시간이 걸리고
행정력 낭비도 심하다는 단점을 보완한 조치입니다.

(제주)도에 신고 없이 도민들이 직접 오픈 채팅방에 신고함으로써 즉시 처리 과정을 확인할 수 있고, 편리할 것으로 기대하고 있습니다.
하지만 일각에선
이 같은 전동 기기 신고방 운영만으로
무단 방치를 근절하는데 한계가 있다는 지적도 나옵니다.
지정된 주·정차 구역이 아닌 곳에서는
세울 수 없도록 장치가 마련됐지만
일부 얌체 업체들이
이용률 하락을 우려해 그대로 놔두고 있다는 겁니다.
결국 이들 기기들의 무단 방치를 막기 위해서는
신고방 운영 못지 않게
관련 업체들의 의식 개선이 시급하다는 지적입니다
