This year in Jeju, there has been a growing concern as more than 100 cases of chickenpox have been reported each month.

According to the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency, from the beginning of the year to this month, the cumulative number of chickenpox patients in the Jeju region has reached 520, which is double the number from the same period last year.

The incidence rate per 100,000 population is 77, the highest among the 17 cities and provinces in the country, and more than twice as high as Ulsan, which has the second highest rate.

Health authorities suspect that the large daily temperature range and group infections in schools and other collective living situations are contributing factors. Emphasizing to seek medical treatment if symptoms such as high fever and blisters appear.

올들어 이달까지 제주지역 누적 수두 환자 수는 520명으로
지난해 같은 기간보다 2배 급증했습니다.

인구 10만 명당 발생 환자 수도 77명으로
전국 17개 시도 가운데 가장 높았고
전국 2번째인 울산에 비해서도 배 이상 높게 나타나고 있습니다.

보건당국은
큰 일교차와 함께
학교 등 단체 생활에 의한 집단 감염으로 추정하고
고열과 수포 등
의심 증상이 나타나면
병원 진료를 받아야 한다고 강조했습니다.
