The Jeju District Prosecutors' Office has indicted 13 people, including Chinese nationals who entered Jeju without a visa for tourism purposes and tried to leave Jeju using forged identification, as well as the brokers who facilitated this.

According to prosecutors, nine Chinese individuals, including a 55-year-old referred to as Mr. A, entered Jeju visa-free from January to March. They are accused of illegal travel to Seoul by boat for employment.

The brokers, including a Korean in their 30s and a Chinese in their 40s, are accused of taking amounts ranging from approximately 1.8 million won to 11 million won per person, forging identification, and facilitating illegal boarding on passenger ships.

제주지방검찰청은 관광 목적으로 무사증으로 입국해
신분증을 위조해 제주를 이탈하려고 시도한 중국인들과
이를 알선한 브로커 등 13명을 구속 기소했습니다.

검찰 등에 따르면 55살 A씨 등 중국인 9명은 지난 1월부터 3월 사이 무사증으로 제주에 입도한 뒤 서울 등 다른 지역에서 취업하기 위해 SNS에서 알게 된 브로커에게 돈을 주고
배편을 이용해 무단 이탈을 시도한 혐의를 받고 있습니다.

30대 한국인과 40대 중국인 등 브로커 4명은
한 사람당 180여만 원에서 1천 1백여만 원 상당을 받고
신분증을 위조해 주고 여객선 승선을 안내한 혐의를 받고 있습니다.
