To prevent maritime accidents, the Coast Guard will significantly expand the monitoring area during the summer.

The Jeju Coast Guard will trial the Jeju Regional Marine Traffic Control Center through August, increasing its monitoring area to about 7,800 square kilometers, which is nearly nine times larger than before.

With this expansion, the service will now monitor around 600 ships per day, three times the usual number.

Following a three-month trial, the Coast Guard plans to officially launch the control center in September, making it the third of its kind in the country, after Gunsan and Mokpo.

해상 사고 예방을 위해 해경이 여름철 관제 구역을 대폭 확대합니다.
제주해양경찰청은 8월까지 제주광역해상교통관제센터를 시범 운영해 이 기간 관제구역을 종전보다 약 9배 확대된 7천 8백여 제곱킬로미터 해역까지 넓혀 운항 선박에 관제 서비스를 제공합니다.
관제구역이 확대되면서 평소보다 3배 많은 하루 6백여 척의 선박이 서비스를 받게 됩니다.
해경은 3개월간의 시범 운영을 거쳐 오는 9월에는 군산, 목포에 이어 전국에서 3번째로 정식 관제센터를 개국할 예정입니다.
