Jeju Island has decided to strengthen its safety management measures in response to rockfall incidents in natural heritage areas such as Suwolbong(수월봉) and Seopseom(섶섬).

To achieve this goal, expert teams recently conducted site inspections at seven natural heritage sites in the region including Seopseom(섶섬), Munseom(문섬), Beomseom(범섬), and Sanbangsan(산방상). Additionally, they reviewed the future management plans for these sites.

Recommendations have been made for Seopseom and Suwolbong to restrict fishing activities and close particular trails at high risk of collapse.

Jeju plans to conduct detailed safety inspections sequentially by 2027 for vulnerable areas or those with safety concerns and will establish catered monitoring and management manuals that consider the characteristics and conditions of each natural heritage area.

Jeju will also utilize in-house research personnel to build topographical data using drones and 3D scanning technologies and to continuously record and analyze changes.

안전 관리 기반을 한층 강화하기로 했습니다.

이를 위해 최근 섶섬과 문섬, 범섬, 산방산 등
도내 자연유산지역 7개소에 대한
전문가 현장 점검을 실시하고 향후 관리방안을 점검했습니다.

섶섬과 수월봉의 경우
붕괴 위험성이 큰 지점에 대해
낚시행위 통제와 일부 탐방로 폐쇄 등의 조치가 필요하다는 의견이 제시됐습니다.

제주도는 취약 또는 안전 우려 지역에 대해
2027년까지 순차적으로 정밀 안전진단을 실시하고
개별 자연유산 지역의 특성과 여건을 고려한
모니터링과 관리 매뉴얼을 마련하기로 했습니다.

또 자체 연구인력을 활용해 드론과 3D스캔 기술로 지형자료를 구축하고
변화를 지속적으로 기록 분석하기로 했습니다.
