The Jeju Provincial Office of Education's push to create a second Deputy Superintendent position has reignited controversy in the Jeju Provincial Council's Budget and Settlement Committee.

At the committee held on the 25th, council member Jung Min-goo(정민구) emphasized the importance of leveraging provisions under the Jeju Special Law.
He argued on the importance of a second Vice Superintendent as discussions with local governments increase, particularly on matters including educational district designations and the operations of school pools.

Meanwhile, council members Kang Dong-woo (강동우) and Kang Sung-ui (강성의) accused the POE of rushing the process and called for a reassessment while emphasising the need of proper procedures and public consensus.

반면 강동우 의원과 강성의 의원은
제2부교육감 신설에 앞서 절차적 타당성과 충분한 도민 공감대가 필요함에도 교육청이 서둘러 추진하고 있다며 재고해야 한다고 주장했습니다.
