The construction industry has experienced a decline in contract amounts in the first quarter of the year due to the worsening economic conditions.

According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the construction contract amount for companies based in Jeju in the first quarter was 600 billion won, a 14% decrease from a year ago.

The amount for companies headquartered in Jeju remained the same as last year at 400 billion won.

The local construction economy in Jeju is experiencing a downturn due to several factors including rising interest rates, increased inventory of unsold properties, and escalating material costs.

건설경기 악화로 올해 1분기 공사 계약액이 감소한 것으로 나타났습니다.

건설공사 계약액은 6천억원으로 1년 전보다 14% 감소했습니다.

본사 소재지가 제주인 업체들의 건설공사 계약액은 4천억원으로 지난해와 같았습니다.

금리 인상과 미분양 증가 등으로 부동산 경기 침체가 장기화되고 있는 가운데 원자재값까지 상승하면서 도내 건설경기가 악화되고 있는 것으로 분석되고 있습니다.
