Industrial activity and consumer spending in Jeju showed a slowdown in May.

According to the Jeju Branch of the Honam Regional Statistics Office, industrial production in Jeju decreased by 2.1% and shipments decreased by 6.6% compared to the same month last year.

While metals increased, decreases in electricity, communications, and non-metallic minerals led to a downturn within just one month.

Additionally, the index of sales at large retail outlets, a marker of local consumption, slightly decreased by 0.4%, marking a continuous decline for two consecutive months.



제주 산업활동 위축…생산·출하·소비 동반 감소

지난5월 제주지역 산업활동과 소비가 모두 주춤한 것으로 나타났습니다.
호남지방통계청 제주사무소에 따르면
지난5월 도내 광공업 생산은
전년 동월 대비 2.1%,
출하는 6.6% 각각 줄었습니다.
광공업 생산은
금속가공 등에서 증가한 반면
전기·통신과 비금속광물 등이 줄며 한 달 만에 감소 전환했습니다.
도내 소비 지표인 대형소매점 판매액지수는
0.4% 소폭 줄어들며
2개월 연속 감소세를 보였습니다.
