While the number of child abuse cases in Jeju is decreasing, the number of reoccurring cases are on the rise.

According to the Jeju Women's and Family Research Institute’s report on measures to prevent the recurrence of domestic child abuse in Jeju, the detection rate of abused children increased from 5.5% in 2019 to 6.5% in 2021, then decreased to 3.7% in 2022.

However, the rate of recurring child abuse cases has shown an increase from 12.1% in 2019 to 11.8% in 2021, and 14.6% in 2022.

The age group most affected by recurring child abuse was between 13 and 15 years old. Additionally, some perpetrators were found to have refused counseling for mental health issues and alcohol abuse.



제주 아동 재학대 피해 증가…사춘기 가장 많아


제주지역의 아동학대 사례건수가 감소하고 있지만
재학대 사례는 증가하는 것으로 나타났습니다.

제주여성가족연구원의
제주지역 가정 내 아동학대 재발 방지 방안 연구보고서에 따르면 피해아동발견율은 2019년 5.5%에서 2021년 6.5%로 증가했다가 2022년 3.7%로 줄었습니다.

하지만 아동학대사례 중 재학대 비율은
2019년 12.1%에서 2021년 11.8%, 2022년 14.6%로 늘었습니다.

특히 재학대 피해아동의 주된 연령층이
사춘기인 13살에서 15살이 가장 많았고

가해행위자가 정신질환과 알코올 중독으로
병원 진료가 필요하지만 상담이나 치료를 거부하는 사례가 있는 것으로 분석됐습니다.

제주여성가족연구원은 아동학대 인식개선 강화와
재학대 피해아동 보호의 사각지대 개선 등을 정책과제로 제시했습니다.
