Cultural Artists' Salon Opens Next Month
It is a practice room with high ceilings and soundproofing facilities.
It has individual practice rooms for up to three people and larger practice rooms that can accommodate 20 to 30 people at once.
There are also reading rooms where actors can read scripts as well as dressing rooms.
The Jeju Culture and Arts Foundation has remodeled this former cinema into a practice space for performing arts for cultural and artistic professionals in the province.

We installed full-length mirrors on one wall of each practice room. This allows for free practice while looking in the mirror.
This reflects the long-standing desire of the arts community for proper creative spaces.
It will be open not only to cultural and artistic professionals registered with specialized organizations but also to the general public who wish to perform cultural and artistic performances.
From next month until November, it will be operated for free on a trial basis, after which usage fees and operating hours will be finalized.
Support for the operation will be received from the Korea Arts Management Service, which operates performing arts practice spaces nationwide.
However, there are also many points to be supplemented.
Plans for a presentation stage were made, but the largest space had to be left vacant due to budget shortages.
Additionally, transportation facilities such as escalators cannot be used due to insufficient safety inspections.
The annual operating cost exceeding 100 million won will need to be covered by provincial funds after five years, so measures for this are also needed.
Despite the twists and turns, the cultural salon for Jeju artists is set to begin full operation, but there are still many challenges to be resolved to fulfill its initially expected role.

다음달부터 오는 11월까지 무료로 시범 운영한 뒤
이용료와 운영 시간 등을 확정할 방침입니다.
전국의 공연예술연습공간을 운영하는
한국문화예술위원회로부터 운영에 필요한 지원을 받게됩니다.
하지만 보완해야할 점도 적지 않습니다.
발표 무대 등을 계획했지만
예산 부족으로 가장 큰 공간을 비워두게 됐습니다.
또 에스컬레이터 등 이동 시설은 안전 점검 미비로 사용할 수 없습니다.
연간 1억원이 넘는 운영비도 5년 이후부터는
지방비로 메워야해
이에 대한 대책도 필요해보입니다.

본격 가동에 들어갈 예정이지만
당초 기대했던 역할을 수행하기 위해서는
풀어야할 과제가 적지 않습니다.
