Amidst relentless day and night heat waves, the number of heat-related illnesses has surged.

According to the province, 60 cases of heat-related illnesses have been reported since the first heatwave warning was issued on the 8th of last month. This figure is nearly double the 33 cases reported during the same period last year.

Approximately 85% of these heat-related illnesses occurred outdoors, primarily in workplaces and farmlands.

Jeju authorities urge the public to avoid outdoor activities during the daytime and to hydrate regularly.



올해 제주 온열질환 60명…전년 대비 2배


연일 밤낮없는폭염이 기승을 부리면서
온열질환자가 급증하고 있습니다.

제주특별자치도에 따르면
지난달 8일 첫 폭염 경보 발효 이후
제주에서는 모두 60명의 온열질환자가 발생했습니다.

이는 지난해 같은 기간 33명보다 2배 가까이 증가한 겁니다.

온열 질환은 전체의 85%가 야외에서 발생했는데
이 가운데 대부분이
작업장이나 논밭으로 파악됐습니다.

제주도는
낮 시간대 야외활동을 자제하고
갈증이 나기 전에
규칙적으로 수분을 섭취하는 등
예방에 주의해 줄 것을 당부했습니다.
