As high water temperature warnings are issued along the Jeju coast, authorities have begun investigating damage to fish farms.

Jeju Province, in collaboration with the National Fisheries Research and Development Institute, the Korea Maritime Institute, and local administrative bodies, has formed a joint response team to conduct on-site inspections of fish farms.

The team is collecting samples to determine if the high water temperature is the cause of the flatfish deaths. If confirmed, they plan to support damage recovery and compensation.

Currently, approximately 3,600 flatfish have died in five local fish farms, and further damages are expected.

Additionally, water with a salinity below 26 PSU is expected to enter the western and southern coasts next week, raising concerns of potential damage to village fishing grounds.



제주도, 고수온 피해 양식장 합동 조사

제주 연안에 고수온 경보가 발효되고
양식장 피해가 발생하면서 당국이 합동 조사에 착수했습니다.

국립수산과학원, 해양수산연구원, 행정시와
고수온 대응 합동대응조사단을 꾸리고
양식장 현장 실사를 진행하고 있습니다.

조사단은
광어 폐사 원인이 고수온 때문인지 시료를 채취해 분석하고
고수온 폐사로 판명되면
피해 복구와 보상 지원에 나설 계획입니다.

현재 도내 양식장 5곳에서
광어 3천 6백여 마리가 폐사한 가운데
앞으로 피해는 더 늘어날 것으로 보입니다.

한편 염분농도 26PSU 이하의 저염분수도
다음 주쯤이면 서부와
남부 연안에 유입될 것으로 보여
마을어장의 피해도 우려되고 있습니다.
