The average temperature in Jeju last month was the third highest on record.

According to the Jeju Regional Meteorological Administration, the average temperature in Jeju last month was 27.4 degrees Celsius, 1.9 degrees higher than usual, and the third highest since meteorological observations began in 1973, following 2017 and 1994.

The number of heatwave days was 5.3, 3.8 days more than usual, and the number of tropical nights was 19.5, more than double the usual.

The Korea Meteorological Administration attributed this to the expansion of the North Pacific High and frequent warm and humid southwesterly winds, which prevented temperatures from dropping at night.

연일 폭염이 이어지는 가운데
지난달 제주 지역 평균기온이 역대 3번째 높았던 것으로
나타났습니다.

제주지방기상청에 따르면 지난달 제주 지역 평균기온은 27.4도로 평년보다 1.9도 높았고 기상 관측을 시작한 1973년 이후 지난 2017년과 1994년에 이어 세번째로 높았습니다.

폭염일수도 5.3일로 평년보다 3.8일 많았고,
특히 열대야 발생일수는 19.5일로
평년보다 2배 이상 많았습니다.


기상청은 북태평양고기압이 북서쪽으로 확장해
평년보다 고온다습한 남서풍이 자주 불면서
밤에도 기온이 떨어지지 않은 것으로
분석하고 있습니다.
