Following a series of electric car fire incidents, the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries has issued recommendations, including limiting the charge level of electric vehicles to 50% when loading them onto ferries.

Additionally, charging electric vehicles and other batteries is prohibited while the ferry is in operation.
The guidelines also recommend restricting the loading of electric vehicles that have a history of battery-related accidents.

However, these are all recommendations and are not legally binding. The Ministry is considering the possibility of legal enforcement.
The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries plans to supply specialized equipment for extinguishing electric car fires to 10 ferries, including those operating in Jeju and Ulleungdo, with plans to extend this to 100 ferries by next year.

다만 모두 권고 사안에 그쳐 강제성은 없고
법제화에 대해선
검토할 방침인 것으로 전해졌습니다.

해수부는
전기차 화재 진압 전용 장비를
제주도와 울릉도 등
여객선 10척에 우선 보급하고
내년 중으로 100척에 추가 공급할 계획입니다.
