The kind gesture of young people giving away ice cream to hikers on Hallasan Mountain on Independence Day has warmed hearts.

The Jeju Tourism Organization awarded a plaque of appreciation to locals Jo Shin-hong (조신홍) and
Kwak Yong-jun (곽용준) for distributing 150 ice creams for free on August 15 at the summit of Hallasan.

The individuals carried heavy coolers and hiked six hours to the summit, where they distributed the ice cream to climbers.

They explained that they wanted to do something meaningful for Independence Day.



광복절에 한라산서 아이스크림 나눔 선행 '눈길'

광복절 한라산 등산객들에게
아이스크림을 나눠준 청년들의 선행이 알려져
훈훈함을 자아내고 있습니다.

제주관광공사는
지난 15일 한라산 정상에서
아이스크림 150개를 무료로 나눠주며
제주 이미지 개선에 기여한 도민 조신홍, 곽용준씨에게
감사패를 전달했다고 밝혔습니다.

이들은 무거운 아이스박스를 들고
6시간의 등반 끝에 한라산 정상에 도착해
아이스크림이 모두 소진될 때까지
무료 나눔 활동을 펼쳤습니다.

이들은
올해 광복절을 맞아 뜻깊은 일을 고민하다가
아이스크림 무료 나눔 활동을
기획하게 됐다고 설명했습니다.
